Paper model sheet in scale 1:50 The French Sud Aviation caravelle was one of the world's first jet-powered short-haul and medium-haul airplanes. The first flights of the prototypes took place on 25 May 1955 and 6 May 1956. While these engines were powered by Avon RA.26 turbines, the standard turbines received the RA.29 Mk.522 units. The first sales success came on 16 November 1955, when the Air France issued an order for twelve machines. From the mid-1970s onwards, the Caravelle was pushed out of most of the main routes by larger and more modern aircrafts, but it was used quite often in charter traffic until the 1980s. Among the last operators in Europe was the Air Toulouse, which last flew with Caravelle 10B3 Super B in 1995. Author: Hubert Siegmund 7 sheets DIN A 4.
