On the shores of Lake Geneva, near Montreux, is one of the most beautiful castles in Switzerland in beautiful surroundings. In the 13th century it was built on earlier foundations and enlarged. Chilon Castle was the ancestral home of the Counts of Savoy in the Middle Ages. It is located on a rocky islet, right on the way to Italy. That's why Chilon has always been an important transit station.
